Joshua M. Brown: The 25 Most Dangerous People in Financial Media: "Dangerous in a good way -- these are the financial media players who are making things very difficult for the establishment to maintain the status quo. Because we tried it their way, allowing the banks and other corporations to write the laws and make all of our decisions for us. Turns out, that's not true democracy or capitalism, it's something else entirely, and we've all had enough. These are the folks leading the charge to take it back."

The Hindu : Opinion / Lead : Media cannot reject regulation: "I have not read the Private Member's Bill on media regulation that Meenakshi Natarajan was scheduled to move in Parliament last week so I am not in a position to comment upon it, but I am certainly of the opinion that the media (both print and electronic) needs to be regulated. Since my ideas on this issue have generated some controversy they need to be clarified."

Don't muzzle the people - The Times of India

Don't muzzle the people - The Times of India: "Every now and then there is a call for controlling the social media. The "social media" and the alleged transgressions committed on it are seen as irresponsible and fully capable of causing all manner of harm - from communal riots, to spreading hatred among communities, to corrupting minds (especially those of children) and causing irreparable damage to people's reputations. To be honest, this is not untrue. But context and perspective are critical here."

Media Crooks: India's Worst Journalists - 2012

Media Crooks: India's Worst Journalists - 2012: "The previous edition of India’s Worst Journalist in 2010 on this site still remains one of the most popular posts and also a very widely reproduced one. Over the last decade or so our journalists have come to be held in the same contempt that is usually reserved for politicians. Many of them have simply forgotten the art and science of the profession and this is a serious tragedy for aspiring journalists. How they came to such a pass is a long story. The most prominent ones are not even journalists anymore; they are ‘Editorialists’ whose main job is to swing public opinion one way or another. Add to this the epidemic of ‘paidnews’ and some of our news channels and newspapers would be nothing more than Bollywood or Commercials. After all, didn’t the late Christopher Hitchens say: “I became a journalist because one didn’t have to specialise”."

10 Predictions for the News Media in 2011 Mashable 10 Predictions for the News Media in 2011 | The top source for social and digital news

10 Predictions for the News Media in 2011 Mashable 10 Predictions for the News Media in 2011 | The top source for social and digital news: "In many ways, 2010 was finally the year of mobile for news media, and especially so if you consider the iPad a mobile device. Many news organizations like The Washington Post and CNN included heavy social media integrations into their apps, opening the devices beyond news consumption.

In 2011, the focus on mobile will continue to grow with the launch of mobile- and iPad-only news products, but the greater focus for news media in 2011 will be on re-imagining its approach to the open social web. The focus will shift from searchable news to social and share-able news, as social media referrals close the gap on search traffic for more news organizations. In the coming year, news media’s focus will be affected by the personalization of news consumption and social media’s influence on journalism.
